From Dust, to Dust
– by Kirsten Josang
From dust we have come, and to dust we shall return.
To the silver stars, breathed into life
To the towering trees, whose only strife
Is if they’ll grow to a towering height
To someday bask in heavens so bright.
From dust we have come, and to dust we shall return.
To the shore where the sand and pebbles lay
And the oceans kiss them day to day
To birds flying high above the mist
And the glimmering waves that have been sun-kissed.
From dust we have come, and to dust we shall return.
To the song that gently blows the tree
To the thunder that shouts its mighty decree
To lightning that sprints through the sky
A fearsome predator that will not die.
From dust we have come, and to dust we shall return.
We came into this world through our birth
And when we have passed, we’ll go into the earth
But even after we have gone
Creation still sings its eternal song.
Because from dust we have come, and to dust we shall return.
Oh, from dust we have come, and to dust we shall return.
